Int@j Gathers Media to Announce details on the Content of the MENA ICT Forum 2014 Agenda and Key Speakers

Amman, Jordan—October 2014: As the MENA ICT Forum approaches, the Information and Communications Technology Association - Jordan (int@j) recently organized a casual media gathering revealing detailed information and interesting highlights about the Forum, in presence of the main partners and sponsors on board.

A number of media representatives were present at the “Disruptive Meeting” that was inspired by the Forum’s main theme “MENA ICT Forum 2014: Disruptive Technologies”, to take notes of the latest updates including the final agenda and main sessions, and to get acquainted with the main speakers and ICT leaders who will contribute and add to the success of the Forum.

Media representatives also got the opportunity to socialize and get in touch with the Forum’s Committee along with representatives from the Forum’s Partners; the Ministry of ICT, USAID Jordan Competitiveness Program, and the three Telecoms Companies; Umniah, Zain, and Orange, along with Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation and MenaITech. There was an opportunity for media to get in touch with the companies participating in the Forum in order to get a brief about their breakout events and sessions they will be having at the forum; such like Entrepreneurship Café by Oasis 500, App Challenge by KAFD, Mix n’ Mentor by Wamda, Catalyzing Conversations by Endeavor, IP Clinic by iPark, Jo Animate Festival by JoAnimate, Amman TT Forum Edition by Amman TT, Jordan Gaming Taskforce, and MenaITech, adding more partners such like Ipsos Stat, King Hussein Business Park, Sajjilni, Arabia Cell, imena, Gaming Lab, along with media partners

The committee also announced the names of some key sessions that tackle the most recent trends in ICT such like; Cities of the Future, Connected Health, The Machines are Here, Next Generations Data Networks, Cloud Computing, and Education for Employment.

On this occasion, H.E. Marwan Juma’a; the Forum’s Head of Committee and Board Member at int@j; stated: “we are thrilled to announce the top speakers contributing to this year’s regional discussion including Mr. Diarmuid O’connell; the Vice President of Tesla Motors, Mr. Nami Zarringhalam; the Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Truecaller, Mr. John Davies; the General Manager of Intel, Mr. Allen Blue; the Co-Founder of LinkedIn, Mr. Duncan Mitchell; the Senior Vice President of Cisco, and Mr. Ali Faramawy, Microsoft Corporate Vice President”.

H.E. Marwan Juma’a also commented during the press conference saying: “It is with great pleasure that we announce more detailed information on this year’s Forum, including its main speakers, as it is considered to be one of the most important Technology events in the region. Being held for the first time in 2002, the MENA ICT Forum proved to be a huge success as it effectively highlights the MENA region’s ICT activities and addresses the latest industry trends, opportunities as well as the future outlook of the region.”

This year’s Forum, scheduled for November 12th and 13th to take place at the King Hussein Business Park, under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, suggests ways to ensure the wellbeing of individuals, businesses as well as the global economy through innovative and disruptive technologies. Moreover, it highlights the growing need for technology around the world and the importance for decision makers to act according to this understanding.

int@j (Information Technology Association of Jordan) is an ICT industry-support association that embraces Jordan s ICT businesses, with a mission to promote their advancement on a local and international level, and enhance their capacity and performance. This goes in parallel with improving the dynamics of Jordan s ICT market and catalyzing all Jordan s ICT related activities. On top of that, int@j largely contributes to influencing ICT policies and strategies.

int@j has grown from 53 members in 2000 to over 143 in mid 2006. Membership is open to all companies operating in Jordan in the fields of Software development, support, application, telecommunications, value added assembly and distribution of ICT products and services, as well as suppliers and users to these industries, and to universities and others supporting ICT training and promotion. Members in int@j range from the largest software developer, to many smaller start-up companies, employing more than 10000 employees.

At its inception back in 2000, int@js efforts were directed to devise a comprehensive framework for the ICT sector of Jordan, in response to a challenge put forward by his Majesty King Abdullah II in 1999 for the private and public sector to prioritize the development of the sector. The outcome was REACH initiative ( Jordan s ICT blueprint) that was devised by int@j and supported by the Ministry of ICT and non-governmental donors (AMIR-USAID).

REACH is Jordan s national strategy for developing a vibrant, export-oriented, and an internationally competitive ICT sector that can successfully attract investment and generate high value jobs. The strategy paves the way for Jordan to become a technology center in the region.
